Review of our Loving Bear from Blogging Mummy.
When I was chosen to do a review for Balloon Baboon I was so excited both for me and Little Man. I knew he would love a balloon sculpture whatever it was. The most exciting thing was waiting to see what we had been sent.
Our balloon sculpture arrived on a day when I was at work. I knew it was coming and couldn’t wait to get home to see it. I knew Little Man would be so excited too. When we got home sure enough was a big box waiting in our garage and I knew straight away who it was from.
Little Man got so excited, we opened the box together and he went crazy. Little Man absolutely loved what he saw inside. inside the box was a little monkey holding a card and a big Bear holding some flowers.
Our Balloon Baboon Bear
Back of the bear
I had to make sure Little Man didn’t burst him. That night the bear and the little Monkey went everywhere with him, even went to bed with him. These balloon models were amazing and it’s really amazes me how they are made. The cute Little Monkey was holding a card in his mouth saying… Hope he makes you smile which I absolutely loved and thought this was a really lovely touch.
We have now had our Monkey and the bear for a week and they are just as inflated as when we got them both.
These balloon sculptures are fantastic for any occasion you can think of. Have a look at the Balloon Baboon website to see what other balloons you can buy. I have looked through them all and they are absolutely amazing. I will most definitely be purchasing some more on special occasions. I am sure any one would love to receive anyone of these balloons. they also last much longer than a bunch of flowers
The bear we were sent holding the flowers is £18.95 and I think this is great value for what we received. Just see our Little Man’s face light up and see the excitement in his eyes.
We are always looking for retailers who want to include one or more of our balloons in their shop.
If you would like to sell some ‘smiles in boxes’ then please get in touch. We would love to work with you.
If you know someone else who might be interested would you pass on our details? Thank you very much
Having been asked time and time again ‘When are you going to do some videos for YouTube?’ We finally gave in when Alec from Procom offered to film one of our mini balloon lessons
So, we now have our very own channel on YouTube for you to subscribe to.
Hope you enjoy it.
Do you remember Ling from LingsCars? She went on Dragons Den to get investment for her car leasing business. The business itself may not ring any bells but we wouldn’t be surprised if her surprising roadside advertising did.
She was offered a deal by Duncan Bannatyne and Richard Farleigh but turned them both down.
Well last week we were asked if we could create a custom balloon to send her as a thank you from the guys at www.donkeyinternet.net
We were really happy with our balloon but it was nothing to the smile that this picture brought to our faces the day it arrived at Ling Cars HQ
It seems that Ling prefers Baboons to Dragons.
If you are looking for something romantic, cute, memorable AND different to send the one you love this Valentines Day then this Romantic Man balloon could be the answer.
He stands at about 45cm high and is absolutely adorable even if we do say so ourselves.
As all our balloons are handmade our schedule sometimes fills up and we then risk turning orders away, so, if you want us to send one of these out with your romantic message please place your order as soon as you can.
Last week we got a step closer to introducing our Personalised balloon caricatures by showcasing one of comedian Russell Kane on Twitter….
……and then taking it down to wait for him in his dressing room at The Palace Theatre, Westcliff to see what sort of reaction it got. In a word – amazing!
Russell Kane liked it enough to post the pic above as a tweet AND pop the caricature on stage (eek) so that his Mini Me could watch the audience arrive for his show!
The link to the picture was tweeted by us a few times over a couple of days too and a staggering 2063 have had a peek at it so far.
With so many people taking an interest and oodles leaving us incredible comments we know that our personalised caricatures are going to be a ‘must have’ in 2011.
Keep an eye open for them arriving on the site soon.
Even though we are tucked up and warm, apart from our treks out to the local Sorting Office, the snow and icy conditions must be on our minds more than we thought because we created a little Penguin cutie this week.
Watch out for him on the site in the New Year
Decided to make a cute little Balloon Girl with a ponytail today – here she is.
Our gorgeous little ‘Stunt Cat’ Growler had a fall at the weekend and is staying at the vet’s tonight
We thought that whilst she was poorly we would ask for some virtual hugs for her in return for a 10% cashback on our Kitty Kat balloon at www.balloonbaboon.co.uk.
Peter Kay did a ‘Mum wants a Bungalow tour’ so you could call this our ‘Pay the Vet Bill’ sale I guess
Offer will end once she is home and walking on all 4 paws again. Hopefully that will be in about a week but with X-rays due tomorrow it could be a bit longer. Don’t leave it too long to place your order though as we really don’t know how long it will be there for. (You can book delivery for your Kitty Kat for any date in 2010 remember)
This offer has now expired
If you know someone who is celebrating their degree then you might like our latest creation… A male and female Graduate balloon.
We remember the essays, exams and then the wait for the final result only too well!
With the FA and World Cup coming up football is going to be pretty hard to ignore soon, especially if you live with a football fanatic.
Footy fans love their shirts and scarves but what about this for the ultimate accessory?
Yep a funky top hat made out of balloons and in their own team colours.
So, whichever team you or the football obsessives in your life support we can make the hat in just the right colours. Imagine their surprise when they open this on the eve of the World Cup!
For Portsmouth or Chelsea we have blue and white and for England red and white.
If your country or team uses different colours for the strip just let us know when ordering. If they make the balloons we need in the right colours we can make a hat for you.
If your hat is for the World Cup then we reckon that it should last right the way through from your teams first game all the way through to the final. You can’t get much better than that
As a special offer – one that is currently exclusive to our blog readers….. for ever full price hat that you order we will offer you the chance to add a 2nd hat sent to the same address for just £8 Just mention ‘wcblog offer’ when you place your order for any fully priced hat and we will send over an invoice for your 2nd discounted item.
This offer runs until the end of the World Cup
(Ours hats were inspired by Professor Wonder)
It is our First Birthday today
With everything going on I almost missed it!!
Over the last year things have changed quite a lot but one thing has stayed the same – the level of support that people have shown us.
It is great to know that so many people think that the idea behind Balloon Baboon is a good one, and to many a great one
A huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who has been so lovely to us over the last year – there are so many of you.
To celebrate our Birthday we are giving anyone who orders from us during the rest of February and says ‘Happy Birthday’ when putting through their order, a free 10% cashback card.
Don’t forget that you can book your delivery date for any day in 2010 so why not place your order this month and take advantage of our Birthday gift to you?
We have an incredibly long list of balloons that we want to try to make and if they work out add to our balloonshop BUT what do you want to see included?
We are often asked if we can make specific balloons – that is how this wonderful Mickey Mouse, Froggie, Buzzy Bee, Piggie and some of our other designs got on the site.
So, next time you are trying to think of a really special gift to send someone but can’t see a balloon that is ‘just right’ why not get in touch and see if it is something that we can make for you.
Your idea could be our next best seller
I love Valentine’s Day to bits and always have.
When I was at University my room looked out over the entrance to the campus reception and I would spend as much time as possible sitting on the windowsill on 14th Feb watching all the bouquets of roses arriving. It was bliss.
The person who came up with the idea for Valentine’s Day was obviously a woman BUT she must have been aided and abetted by a man who convinced her that it would be much easier for men to remember if it was on a fixed date unlike Mother’s Day, for example, that can move about a bit.
At least having a single date to remember would give all women a fighting chance of at least getting a card on the right date if not roses or a gift too.
So, how is it that Valentine’s Day creeps up on so many of us when we know exactly when it is? (I speak for myself here too)
Well count this as your little reminder that Valentine’s Day is just under a month away
If you decide to order something that has to be made and despatched then don’t leave it too late to place the order (she says as someone who has often found the perfect gift online but then ordered it too late for delivery in time for 14th Feb and then had to rush out to find an alternative)
With our balloon bouquets and some other freshly made products I am sure, companies can only physically book in a certain number to be made in time for the last posting date. They just run out of time.
So, if you are thinking of sending something that is made to order please put your order in as soon as you can so that you don’t have to come up with an alternative that you are not really so happy about giving, local garages have improved their range but not THAT much
We just couldnt resist trying out a Pluto balloon and here he is. He will probably get a tweak here and a twist there but we already think he is a bit of a cutie pie.
He has just joined , WallE, Bob the Builder and Marvin the Martian in our balloonshop so if you can think of anyone who could give him a good home he is now on our site.
We have just tried to send out an email to everyone on our emailing list to let them know about our New Year Offer below.
What could be easier? Well it seems that building a lifesize balloon replica of the Eiffel Tower would be easier because although our test emails look very pretty they seem to reduce to code when they go out to more than one person.
So, if you are on our emailing list and have had some odd emails from us this morning we wanted to apologise and reassure you that your computer has not started to have a meltdown and you are not being hacked into it is just a poor Balloon Baboon trying to get a very simple email to you and failing
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
One of my favourite things about a New Year is starting a new diary. Fountain Pen in hand Birthday’s and Anniversaries are first to be added. As they are written in, in my very best handwriting, I start thinking about present ideas and they go into another little book of mine.
That got me thinking. I know I am not the only one to drool over a new diary but how many other people like to start mentally ticking off the gifts they are going to give too?
If you are one of them then the offer that sprung to mind as I got my diary out to officially start 2010 is perfect for you.
Order a balloon delivery for any date in 2010, before midnight on Sunday 3rd January, and we will send you one of our 10% cashback cards so that you can save 10% on all balloon deliveries booked for the next 6 months!
This could save you a small fortune!
Don’t forget that you can pre-order a delivery for any date in 2010. Just imagine ticking off those birthday gifts as you write them in your new gorgeous diary – you will be ahead of yourself and the year has only just started.
Have a wonderful 2010
Our local hospital banned fresh flowers from wards earlier this year and it seems that more and more across the country are doing the same.
They haven’t banned deliveries of balloon flowers though which gives us the perfect excuse to add more varieties to our collection. It has nothing to do with the fact that making balloon flowers is one of our favourite things – honest!
Our first new flower is a Calla Lily below…..
As well as offering standard bouquets we are also thinking of offering a ‘create your own bouquet’ service that will allow you to put the flowers that you want together – just like when you visit a real florist. That way you can personalise the bouquet and spend as much or as little as you like.
We would love to know what you think of this idea so please take a minute or two to leave a comment. We really value your feedback.
Thanks in advance
Today a member of Post Office staff practically accused me of lying about the measurements of a box – twice!
The boxes that we send our balloons out in are pretty big but are within the PO limits on size.
I am used to PO counter staff saying “That box looks too big” then turning to their colleague and saying “Does that look too big to you?” before I explain that the boxes are bought specially for their size blah blah blah.
Today that wasn’t enough, nor was telling the member of staff the exact measurements and quoting the PO size limitations to prove that I knew what the max size of the box could be. She made it very clear that she thought I was lying to her, twice.
Now it won’t be long before we are sending too many deliveries to make a trip to the PO practical, Royal Mail will need to collect and the local POs won’t get their cut anymore but after today’s experience I am thinking about bringing that day forward.
When POs are closing all the time it is such a shame that a local business who spends a small fortune on postage every month is thinking of paying for that postage online or in another way to avoid going to the PO anymore.
Trouble is I’m sure I am not the only one.
